This show was filmed...
Chandler's farm in Durham, NC
Basement of Cobb dorm
Utility shed in the UNC Student Union
BP Station/The Printer at the corner of 15-501 and 54
Stairwell outside UNC-STV studio
*At the gas station scenes, Dustin Rhodes had to sit in
for an absent Jenn Rettew. The valium angle was conceived on set to explain
why she is not conscious.
*These scenes were shot early in the morning, and Andy Spain was so hung over
he had to fight the urge to throw up. Whenever he was not in front of the camera
he was passed out in his car with his head on the steering wheel.
*To give the "workshed" a more reddish look, cameraman Dave Miller white-balanced
on something blue (that something being the label on the director's jar of Planter's Peanuts).
*The script originally called for there to be two large "zombie battles", but due to time
constraints and lack of an expansive cast, the first battle was replaced by the character
of Lash shooting into the woods (intercut with footage from Predator), and the second
with "Butch and Sundance" ending. The scene with Reg and Chutney was written in the studio
on the back of a script in ten minutes and then quickly filmed so that the episode would
have an end and could be completed for Premiere Night.
*The cabin exteriors were shot on set in Durham, but the interiors inside a lounge in Cobb Dorm,
a girl's dorm for which the cast had to get special permission to enter.
Incidentally, the loud "clanging" that Lash mentions was due to the heating
system in the dorm being--what the director termed--"stupid."
*One time the director and producer just strolled into Cobb and began looking for possible locations.
The female RA's found this to be suspicious.
*The zombie make-up was oatmeal with pink and green food coloring.
*The shot in which Dan Hooper cuts off his own hand was an elaborate setup devised by the
cameraman in which Hooper pulls his hand back really quickly while the director, standing offscreen,
drops a fake hand into the wastebasket.
*Duct tape was applied to the blade of the saw so that Hooper wouldn't hurt himself.
*The director maintained order on the set with his bamboo "whoop-ass" stick.
Upon completion of shooting he broke it over his knee and danced on it.
This episode was directed by an STV demi-god and therefore lacks error.
(Refer to the explanation under the music section)
Dan - "Let's go inside and you can swallow my soul."
Dan - "These aren't the mountains, are they? Damn you, you dyslexic bastard!"
Andy - "If you please, I am still quite bereaved over the loss of my dear sweet Mindy."
Dan - "Oh, shutup! You knew she was worthless the first minute you woke up next to her!"
Andy - "Yes, she was pretty worthless, wasn't she?"
Dan - "I said salve, baby, not peroxide. That's gonna sting."
Jenn - "You ate the girlscout cookies from hell, you whore!"
Dan - "Enough of this girl-on-girl action. Let's dance."
